What is Together for Sustainability?
Together for Sustainability (TfS) is a joint initiative of chemical companies, founded in 2011. It has developed and implemented a global program to assess, audit and improve sustainability practices within the supply chains of the chemical industry. TfS aims to build the industry’s standard for sustainable supply chains and has established a standard approach for evaluating and improving the sustainability performance of suppliers within chemical industry supply chains. Moreover, TfS assessments and audits are conducted to a pre-defined set of criteria and then shared across TfS members, improving efficiency fo all involved.

Dr. Gabriele Unger (General Manager, TfS)
With effect of July 1st, 2015, Dr. Gabriele Unger from BASF SE is the General Manager of Together for Sustainability (TfS) AISBL in Brussels.
She is in charge of daily operations of the initiative, including coordination of assessments and audits for member companies, and onboarding procedures for new memberships.
Rüdiger Eberhard, President of TfS commented: “It is our utmost pleasure to have Dr. Unger on board as a General Manager of TfS AISBL. With her vast experience in chemical industry, she brings strong value propositions to both our membership companies and to our suppliers, and helps us to grow internationally by fulfilling our aim to create benchmark for sustainable chemical industry.”
Dr. Unger has a PhD in Chemistry from Kaiserslautern University, and took several key positions within BASF in the field of sales and R&D, including an international assignment in Hong Kong from 2006 to 2010. Since 2011 she has been Director of New Business Development in Procurement at BASF SE.

The European Chemical Industry Council
The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) and the organization Together for Sustainability AISBL (TfS), a joint initiative of global chemical companies for sustainable supply chains, have established an official partnership supporting improvement of sustainability within the entire supply chain from sourcing of raw materials until delivery of products at customers’ premises, including transport safety and waste disposal. The latter are fostered by the Cefic initiative Responsible Care, too.
